The recent passing of Dr. Ellen Malsky of Bedford has opened up the debate of the controversial prescription drug SUBOXONE®. Dr. Malsky was one of a handful of local doctors authorized to prescribe SUBOXONE® (buprenorphine and naloxone).
According to Suboxone.com, “SUBOXONE Film is a narcotic medication indicated for the treatment of opioid dependence, available only by prescription, and must be taken under a doctor’s care as prescribed. It is illegal to sell or give away your SUBOXONE Film.” SUBOXONE® is owned by Reckitt Benckiser of the UK.
The controversial drug and treatment program is not without critics. “The makers of Suboxone have actually figured out a way to make doctors legal drug dealers and provide taxable narcotics to people in society,” says familyfirstintervention.com
Dr. Malsky’s office was at 61 Main Street, Stoneham, MA and for the last 12 years she was a Primary Care Physician servicing hundreds of local residents. Recently she had closed down her office reportedly as the result of a complaint and a subsequent investigation.
The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine’s Physician Profile for Dr. Ellen Malsky lists her license status as “Voluntary Agreement not to Practice,” which is, “An agreement between the physician and the Board, or the Complaint Committee, that the physician will not practice medicine during the Board’s investigation of allegations against the physician.”
A gathering will be held on May 9, 2011, Monday at 5:00 PM at Anthony’s Catering Hall, 105 Canal St, Malden, MA and all are invited. obits.dignitymemorial.com

Hello, I hopped over to your website from mixx. It’s not blog post I would typically read, but I loved your perspective on it. Thank you for making something worth reading!
Thanks for the info on the passing of Dr Malsky, I worked as a Nanny for her years ago and I was saddened to hear this news. I have lost touch with the family and may have not heard about this any other way. My thoughts are with her family and those two precious boys.
This article is correct in stating that Dr. Malsky had signed a “Voluntary Agreement not to Practice” with the MA Board of Registration in Medicine. Note that The Board has since dropped this agreement and closed their investigation without comment. No allegations were ever made nor any charges leveled against Dr. Malsky by The Board.
Ken..first, let me offer my condolences. I am wondering if you have any insight/advice on how a former patient can secure copies of medical records while under Dr. Malsky’s care.
I am still very sad about dr. Malsky’s passing all these months later!!! She was the most wonderful and genuinely caring dr I have ever known! She is responsible for changing my life with her words of encouragement and genuine concern, not just her rx for suboxone! I am happy to say that I was her very first patient to successfully have completed the suboxone program many many years ago! I am grateful for all her love and support she gave me during that time and the years that followed as my primary dr. Without her, I would not be here with my two beautiful children and happy home!! I wish I could thank her again in person!!! She truly was an inspiration and a genuinely CARING dr!!!**** unfortunately I have been unable to obtain my medical records if anyone can suggest how, I would greatly appreciate!!! RIP Ellen!!!
I was a patient of hers for years on the suboxone program. She ALWAYS had a good outlook on things, at least on the surface. I was stunned to hear of her passing, and of the manner in which she passed. She was always a good doctor and always good to me. I would never pass judgement on her because we’ve all done things that we wouldn’t want to be judged on. Thank you, Ellen.
Does anybody know if it is possible to get copies of the medical records from Dr. Malksy’s office in Stoneham?
We just learned of Dr. Malsky’s passing and are very saddened. She was my boyfriends Dr. for YEARS and he always had the utmost respect for her. I wish we knew when it happened b/c we would have been to pay our respects. Prayers to her husband, boys and the rest of her family.
I need my medical records from Dr. Malsky or the tele# of the medical board
