The Greater Boston Tea Party Monthly Medford Meeting.

The Guest Speaker at the March meeting was Jim Stergios, Executive Director of the Pioneer Institute, MA’s premiere think tank for fiscally conservative policy.

An empty seat was hard to find and it was a great opportunity to hear how the state of MA spends our tax dollars and how it wastes them.

A lively question and answer session followed with the majority of the questions directed at health care and education.

Four candidates for political office were in attendance.

Frank Addivinola, candidate for U.S. Representative in the 5th Congressional District which is currently held by Ed Markey introduced himself.

Paul Caruccio from Winthrop, candidate for State Representative in the Nineteenth Suffolk district which includes all of Winthrop and some precincts in Revere and is currently held by Speaker of the House, Robert A. DeLeo announced his intention of running.

Sean Harrington, candidate for Arlington Town Meeting, Precinct 15 and Joe Monju, Candidate for Arlington Town Meeting, also spoke.

The next meeting of the GBTP will be held in a much larger hall. The meeting is on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 7 PM in the South Medford Fire Station Community Room (Engine 5) located at 0 Medford St, Medford, MA 02155. The location is easily accessible by bus, there is ample free parking and the room is wheelchair-accessible.

The GBTP is not a “Political Party,” and all are invited to attend whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian or any other affiliation.

From the GBTP website:
Our Mission: “The Greater Boston Tea Party is a group of citizens who are concerned with the increasingly burdensome reach of government.  Our mission is to educate and advocate for the restoration and defense of public policy that promotes limited government, free markets, free speech, individual liberty and personal responsibility, all tenets of the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights.”

“We advocate citizen engagement through civil discourse, community involvement and online activities that promote peaceful and productive social change.”

Christine Morabito, President of the GBTP added, “If, like us, you are concerned about the direction of the country and want to make your voice heard, please come to our next meeting. I guarantee you will be in good company.”
